·For sale or trade is a nice, original 1959 2849 reference Omega Seamaster Calendar with a 503 caliber movement. It comes with it's original beads of rice bracelet, sale papers, and warranty booklet. The dial has a light, even patina, however there is some lume debris on the dial and some of the lume has darkened. The case is in very nice, seemingly unpolished, condition with a sharp hippocampus case back. The movement runs, winds, and sets well, but service history is unknown so a service is recommended prior to regular use.
Additional details are below, and feel free to reach out with any questions.
Dial: Original, non-refinished, dial features yellow gold markers and hands and has developed a light, even patina. There is some lume debris on the dial, and some of the lume has darkened. Some lume is missing from the minute hand as well. "Swiss Made" text is present below the 6 marker as expected.
Case: Original 34.5mm 2849-1 reference stainless steel case appears to be unpolished and is in very nice condition. Bevel on the lugs is still sharp, "Waterproof" text on the case back is still clear, and the hippocampus logo on the case back is sharp.
Crown: Original clover crown is in nice condition.
Crystal: Original signed crystal (Omega logo etched in center) has some light scratches that should buff out.
Movement: Original 503 caliber automatic movement is clean and runs, winds, and sets well. Service history is unknown, so a service is recommended prior to regular use. Serial number dates the watch to 1959 (sold in 1961 per the paperwork, a delay between movement date and invoice/sale date is common).
Bracelet: Comes on the original 8220 beads of rice bracelet with original #11 endlinks. I believe the bracelet to be full length as it is quite long. While I have no way of confirming that the bracelet is truly original, this is the bracelet that was on it when I purchased it, it's the correct style/model, and a bracelet was sold with it per the paperwork. Bracelet is in nice condition - the only noticeable blemish is there is a ding on the buckle near the Omega logo.
Papers: Watch comes with it's original paperwork, including the sale papers as well as the warranty book that matches the papers. Papers indicate watch was sold in September 1961 in the UK (where I purchased it from).
Price is $900. Open to trades for non-radium 50s or early 60s Seamasters, Constellations, Geneves, Conquests, and Flagships (see my WTB/WTT here). I'll cover insured US shipping, international shipping is available but to be discussed with buyer. PayPal preferred for payment. OF seller reviews are here. Returns are accepted if watch is grossly misrepresented. Watch is located in Seattle, WA, USA.
