1959 Omega Constellation Cal. 551 Advice (14381)

Hi All, first time poster but long time reader. I've been researching vintage Piepans before pulling the trigger on one and was hoping to come to the experts for some advice. Really hoping to pick up this timepiece as a milestone birthday gift for myself. I came across one for sale with a 551 movement and have read a mix of stories about redials and frankenwatches but wanted your advice. The only thing that actively sticks out is the crown (perhaps) looks polished down?

Its a beautiful design but I would get perturbed viewing that dial daily. If you're set on that model, I would invest more time and money waiting for one that will bring you happiness when you look down.

It looks good from afar but the pictures are overexposed and make the dial look cleaner / more homogenous than it would be with the patina and the bubbling. Comes down to price, and whether you like the dial as is.

Agree with the above.
The photos don’t really show the extent of the dial degradation.

Plus, whilst gold cap cases are never quite as sharp as gold or SS, the lugs have pretty much lost their facets altogether.

what happenned to the crown?
