What’s the advantage/benefit of buying the full set (one of the 557) vis-a-vis buying all three individually?

I can buy full set from online seller OR three individually locally. Cheaper locally by about USD5K at least. Plus no customs.

The full set ones and the individual ones are slightly different in terms of their dials. You can google for pics and compare...

If I remember the discussion here when these were announced, the consensus seemed to be people preferred the non-trilogy as they didn’t have the numbered dials so were a bit cleaner.
It doesn’t bother me, so it’d come down to condition and price, and if the local ones are cheaper I’d go for those.

Full sets are only limited to 557 sets. Every watch has the word "trilogy" written on the dial.
Individual pieces are limited to 3000 pieces.

Not much difference between them except the word 'Trilogy' on the dials.

I prefer the simpler, non-Trilogy dial but, to me, this is a minor point. More important is the trustworthiness of the seller and whether each watch satisfies whatever criteria you may have. For example, I'm particular about certain details (e.g., hand alignment, reset of chrono hand right at 12, timekeeping, etc.) so for me it's better to buy each watch separately. For others, the rarer Trilogy set will be more appealing.

Definitely wouldn't buy the set because of the dials.

Buying individually means you can avoid the ones you don’t like. They screwed the pooch with the extra text IMO so the set is a no go for me. But then, what do I know, drink has been taken.

    Thanks for the inputs.

Apparently at retail, the 557 sets were more expensive by 500CHF. So that much more for being more limited, having a word “trilogy” and LE number on dial (which may be a boon or bane depending on your preference), a special engraving on the caseback and the bigger presentation box.

I wish the three separates would all have same LE number. But i dont think so. Never been lucky with those things.

So right now, am leaning towards the separates. I like the cleaner dial. And will be getting them at an AD. Will try to get a discount for the seamaster and railmaster, which are now both selling below retail.

    Thanks again.

The extra writing on the dial of the sets is to encourage the sets to stay together.

The sets would almost all presumably go to die-hard Omega fans. I don't see them being sold to people off the street.

They'll probably be more likely to be stored or maintained in a collectible condition. The separates are likely to be worn and sold and bought more readily.

In time good examples of the separates may be harder to get than the sets.

I am really loving my Speedmaster 60th. More than I could have imagined I would.

Just got them from local AD.

Hope to find some time soon to enjoy em. Away from prying eyes of the missus.

Good thing you were able to get the tag. I didn’t get mine.

Saw both RM and SM in the window display in your AD. But Speedy not much. I got mine separately in three different occasions - three different months. Love them all!

    Congrats!

Beautiful! Mine are still in their plastic box, kept for now. Was only able to wear the SM300 for a day or two.

My parent bequeathed his three Omega Seamaster dress watches which I had them restored. I would like to extend that legacy and tradition by continuing with another three Omega and the Trilogy fits the bill.

I went to all three ADs that you probably frequented. Great service, better stock level than the other venerable competitor! Haha!

Let us know how you like the Trilogy. We can start a local club.

    Mine says hello....

Just collected today. Serial number 5xx. Looks like 20+ sets left to be delivered to the owners.
