Hello to all..just purchased this 30mm gem off Ebay...the seller believes its a factory finish as the pale salmon colour is absolutely uniform and not 'tropicalised'. I think the fonts are too crisp for a redial but I can't find any firm evidence of 5ps Seikos with this colour dial, any thoughts are welcome, thanks

Seiko Supers are not my expertise, but I highly doubt it would be a redial. They're cool watches, but not exactly high value ones, so I wouldn't expect someone to try to make money out of redialing them. I also doubt the dial was originally salmon coloured. That's not a common colour in Seiko's catalogue in this period, if it's there at all. I suspect it was originally something along the lines of cream coloured, beige or off white. The patination is fairly even, but not consistent. Or at least it doesn't look consistent around the markers and if you look at the edge of the dial between 1 and 4 in your first two photos.
Having said all that, I think it's a lovely looking watch overall, regardless of what colour it originally was or wasn't.

Thanks, yes I noticed around the 12 it looks a bit uneven..TBH it still hasn't arrived, should be today or tomorrow..as you say not big money so why bother redialing it.I was thinking it was cherry blossom coloured but stated it as pink, ill get an obvious answer under the loupe and post better pictures.I still havnt seen a Seiko with thaf waffle pattern..but its obviously a Super with its size .It's the last year of production 1956 so maybe they did some different dials, like you say its not an obvious colour.

hi all..dont know why the picturescare coming out like this ....they're the best i can do.The dial looks like its been very finely shot blasted ,whethed thats factory i dont know, theres alot of dirt around 12....but the font is very crisp..its perfectly even on the colour..its not a faded 'tropical' dial. But as has been said, why redial a watch that's not worth more than £100.
