    Hello all.
Just picked up this 1956 FX6040 490 OXG from my watch dealer. Fully serviced with a one year warranty.
Can't seem to find much info, but love the dial and it's running beautifully. Any info of history you could give me would be great.
    Thanks

Unfortunately, this dial has been re-done. Do you have movement photos?

Not just re-done, but really badly re-done.

    US market watch.

This is a US market watch. The dial has been refinished and looks totally different from what an original dial would look like. As long as you like it its fine, but it significantly diminishes the value as a collectible.

Ouch guys! I thought it was a pretty cool watch. Keeps great time and it running perfect. What is exactly is it that is redone?

The dial has been repainted/reprinted... unfortunately not very well... it would not have left Omega looking like this.

Hey @dietersrover ! Don't feel too bad. If you are new to vintage watches you can't be expected to see a redialed watch like guys that have been looking at them for years like some of the members here.

There's even a description of a watch like yours: noob tax

I'd also be a tad concerned over the gouging on the rotor and the corrosion evident around the rim of the movement, but if it's running strongly and under warranty, and you're happy, then no worries.

If they take returns, that might be worth considering.

For most collectors, there's more wrong than right with this watch.

But as @doog very rightly says, if you're happy....

Thanks, and no worries, better to know than not.
I know the dealer, and next time I'm in the shop I'll bring it up. I dig the watch, though.
    Cheers

I'll hang out. Thanks. I'm easy. If it's one of a kind, maybe I should treasure it? Who knows maybe it's special.
