Hi All, This watch came up for sale with the photos below. It was difficult to establish what is was worth as not many come up but I was ready to buy if I could get some higher resolution photos. In the process of getting the photos it was gone! I know it's a bit after the fact now but I'm interested to know if any other members would have bought it at that price with photos supplied? Thanks in advance for any information.
Hi @padders When I looked at Desmond's blog OT 2852 is listed as Deluxe dial 18K solid gold, and OT2853 listed as Deluxe 18K solid gold. I wasn't sure what the difference in the description was indicating, but it was advertised as a 2852.
My 18k Gold OT2852 has a normal pie pan which is why I am thinking that is a 2853. The caseback shows both so maybe the seller wasn’t sure.
This one is in the sales forum, and comes with a solid gold flat link bracelet. https://omegaforums.net/threads/rar...h-18k-flat-link-bracelet-reduced-price.75364/
The 2699/7077 in the Private Sales is a great buy IMHO. The 18kt 7077 will fit a lot of different references with those endlinks and they all look fantastic with that bracelet. I think $5K was on or around the money for the stepped dial 2853, but if it was a great deal or not depends on how well those arrowhead markers are going to clean up ( I think well ). It also looks to my eyes like the dial has been cleaned at some point..
Nick is selling a few private stock watches lately. The lack of pictures in a good light struck me as odd.
Hi @cristos71 I initially thought it was just light reflection that caused the variation on the markers but now that you mentioned it they do look like they are tarnished. If they are gold plated or solid gold why would they discolour like that?
Hi @STANDY I asked for more pictures but none eventuated, then it was gone. Would you have made the purchase based on pictures provided at that price?
No Have you seen the two Rolex watches he has put foreward the last few days to subscribers. Know Nick and have dealt with him many moons ago. He would have offered the above watch to he's premium subscription members that are willing to pay $99 a year first so a good chance it went before I saw it as a non paying guy who has just stayed with it for years. ( bet $100 he would not buy a watch of someone with those pictures )
Hard to say from those crappy pictures, but it is extreme tarnishing if that's what it is, the markers are solid gold and you can see other areas where the dial/logo isn't perfect either
Thanks for the information. I totally missed the problem areas you circled . I need to scrutinize all aspects of the watch more closely but at least I don't feel as bad for missing out on buying this one
