State of the art IWC Schaffhausen. Legendary 89 Caliber running well on 17 Jewels (movement cleaned 2013). Often called "the working man's Patek for it's reliability and quality. Case Original and Signed IWC schaffhausen brush and polished back and front. Original signed Crown and mint Crystal Dial. Professionally restored with original set of gold hands. 60 golden markers. Size 35mm excluding crown 42 lug to Lug. Aftermarket Band (please remember I'm selling the watch, not the band. considerate band a gift with watch. In other words value is based on the watch.) Asking for $1350 best "reasonable" offers accepted.
As a note, this is also known as the Charlie Chaplin because he had one of these with the same champagne dial. Just an interesting anecdote.
Beautiful watch. I have only just started paying attention to IWC. When you say "professionally restored," I assume that means redial? But that isn't as big an issue in the Iwc community? Is that right? Why is that?
I think it's as much of an issue or non issue with IWC as with any brand, it just depends on the model and the significance of it and of course the owner, collector or buyer. It is also dependant on how the restoration is done. In this case it is quite good and respectful of the original, and using original parts for it. Also the core value of this piece is on the manual cal 89. The restored dial issue on any brand really comes into play when the seller is trying to hide it or basically say a watch is untouched. A serviced dial is restored and many of the vintage pieces we see here are not all original but good restored pieces by people who care to seek the right parts and respectful restoration. Which is why there are so many posts about buying this or that bezel and hands etc to complement a given watch and looking for the right arrow hands from this or that year or DON bezel etc etc etc. A 100% original vintage watch is not easy to find, and when it is found it would not look anything like this. But it would be fair to say that the same watch and model unrestored but on great condition would run a few thousand dollars above this piece. I sold an unrestored model of the same characteristics but with an early automatic movement for quite a high premium a couple of years ago. Both where purchased in Israel. The restoration was also done there. Not by me. I would not be qualified for this kind of work.
This is the speedmaster of IWC!! Ok, it has absolutely nothing I'm common or barely close to a speedmaster but I thought that may get some attention! Seriously, good watch!
