Greetings all! Hope someone can shed some light as to whether this is a "franken-watch", or does this combination occur authentically?

I just joined and wanted to be a part of this great forum as a vintage Omega lover and owner. I just purchased a truly awesome and very nicely restored '50 bumper 2577 cal. 351 which I am sincerely falling in love with, but I have been going a bit crazy about another I own as I described in the subject.
My inquiry is about an Omega 2657-looking dial on a 2848 case and cal. 490? Can this be?

Hope you could direct me as to how I can get some feedback, if possible, and share some of the photos I took of it so as to clearly represent it for discussion.

    Many thanks.

Omega used the same style dial an any number of different watches.

The only thing off I see is a counterfeit Omega strap.

I think X350 XJRs reply should set your concerns at rest. I might add that Omega also used many different dials on any particular reference number. So you can find many different looking 2846s

Also Welcome to the forum. Feel free to post any questions your have or subjects you wish to discuss.

That's nice to hear, thank you X350. I guess it's in decent condition otherwise, original finish i've been told.
By the way, is it missing that "swan neck" piece at the regulator on the movement? Is that normal for the cal. 490?
The strap, I know about... the buckle is an Acierinox Swiss, original I guess though, so that kind of makes up for it!
    Many thanks.

You really need to show us a picture of the movement to tell you if anything is amiss. Oh wait you did. ;) Well it does seem to be missing . I can not tell if the screws that would hold the swan neck are broken off or the holes are just empty. But either way it is missing.

No, the holes are just empty... someone out there needed a spare part, I guess!
At least now I know! Other wise, it keeps time just fine and any regulation necessary can just be done manually...
    Thanks again

Actually, I'm really new at this.... just caught the bug a few months ago, but have managed to get that bumper in my avatar, that's my only one.... the second vintage I got is the one in this post.... but I am getting really fond of that vintage-feel thumping of the bumper wind as opposed to the rotor.

What i'm looking to do is collect only a few different special value pieces... i'm actually eyeing one that's supposed to be one of those rare cal. 560's.... Is it authentic, you think? Strange dial!?

That's a nice dial  - I'm sure the experts around here will chime in regarding its authenticity.

I'm loving the looks of this watch, but i'm worried that this caliber is quite rare, and therefore very fake-able!

You're right though... the dial is AWESOME! :)
