Here is a 1955 first version pre 806 Valjoux 72 Breitling Navitimer supplied to AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Asociation) for use by their pilots. They were made with the famed Valjoux 72 movement only for a year before Breitling moved to Venus movements in their Navitimers.

Wakmann,a popular distributor and watchmaker in the US imported, assembled and distributed these for use by aviators from the AOPA, as the US had imposed high tax restrictions set on direct imports of Swiss watches , designed to protect the US watch industry.

You can read about the relationship between Wakmann, AOPA and Breitling here https://monochrome-watches.com/the-...MncwAetCxq0IQF5gPPxALZ0vscYZLGw7qbjCa58Nirwto

The early all black Navitimer is such an awesome watch, I had one once with the later Venus movement....should have kept it really.
