1954 Seamaster?

Hi All, new member here, please be gentle.
I would really appreciate a little bit of feedback on this:
My dad has given me what I believe to be his original (except strap) and unmolested (by which I mean probably un-serviced) Omega watch.
The small amount of research I’ve managed to do indicates it to be a 1954 Seamaster - this fits in as I think he bought it while doing his National Service around this time, possibly while overseas in Aden, and that it’s probably a ‘bumper’ - would you agree?
Should I be concerned there is no ‘Seamaster’ logo on the dial and that the crown is plain?
There is the faintest markings on the back of the watch (too feint to photograph) but as he wore it every day for 30+ years I’m hoping that’s not unusual.
I will be saving up to have it repaired / serviced - it runs but loses a lot of time - would anyone have an idea on the original strap, I’m presuming it would have been leather?
Any other info / comments greatly appreciated
Many Thanks

All good. Nice heirloom. And easy to service. Find an older watchmaker locally and expect to pay around $ 150 plus. Worth every penny. Leatherstrap fine. But your strap looks good here as well. Why not keep it? Kind regards. Achim

I was just going to comment that the bracelet does look good. Keep it.

Beauty bulky case with clean black dial. I'm also in team #keepthebracelet.

I’ve also got a 354 14****** bumper, not as nice as yours. They’re great watches and well worth servicing. Enjoy it

Looks great! Get it serviced and wear it in good health. The service may cost more than 150$ depending where you live btw.

Hi
If your father purchased the watch in Aden this is probably where he may have bought it from.

And a bit of gentle polishing with Polywatch on the crystal and Cape Cod on the case will remove most of the scratches shown in your photos

Dont worry about the absence of the ”Seamaster” logo as this reference came without it as well. Crown is not original, the clover crown should be the correct one attached. Maybe your father serviced it in the past and the watchmaker swapped it for a new one. Nice watch none the less👍
