I am hereby offering an Omega 2639-14 with a remarkably aged dial for sale.



It is one of those 'hate it or love it' dials, which to my eyes most of all resembles black granite speckled with gold flakes. It changes appearance in different light condition and to me it is rather beautiful. All photos in this listing has been taken in sunlight, it is a fair bit more black indoors. The markers are all sharp, the radium lume looks decent (some lume loss in the hour hand) and the lettering is all there. It is a "gilt" dial as the cool kids would call it


While the 36mm case has signs of use, the only prominent scar is a light scratch going from 11 to 12 on the top part of the bezel. On the caseback there are shallow marks from a nylon thread. Both areas should be easy to polish out, should you wish so. The crown is an Omega item and I believe it is the correct type. The lug width is 18mm.








The cal. 266 manual wind movement is in reasonable cosmetic condition with no obvious signs of neglect. I haven't timed it, nor do I know anything about the service history (one mark in the back and a non-Omega crystal leads me to believe it has been serviced at least once at some point), but I haven't noticed any signs of any mechanical faults while wearing it for some days.
The 14mil serial number points to a production date in 1954.

I think you should further edit the title and remove that « completely ruined dial » business from the title. You might be driving away someone who might actually like it.
Just say black dial- and then you can clarify in the description.
