Recently picked up an early-1950s Omega Automatic bumper, powered by the cal. 354 (17 jewels) with a serial dating to ~1952–53. The watch is housed in a solid 14k U.S.-market case and fitted with a black dial with applied gold markers and dauphine hands. The movement appears original and unmolested, currently running about –2 minutes/day, with low amplitude consistent with an overdue but routine service. A nice period detail is the Omega-signed strap and original Omega gold buckle, which rarely survive together. I’m not fully certain about the dial’s originality and would welcome thoughts from the group, as the overall watch presents as honest and well-matched for the era

The dial is not original IMO. Printing is wrong, and obviously there would be no tritium (T SWISS MADE T) in that era. Hands not Omega, IMO. Unfortunate, 1950s black dials are few and far between.

Buckle may be original Omega, but I do not see a gold hallmark and it’s at least 10 years younger than the watch.

My suggestion is that you need more time to learn what you are buying before pulling the trigger. Your newbie tax is too high.

Yeah i bought that at an antique shop..And I got a hold of the seller. He confirms a redial and aftermarket strap and buckle. He thinks it's a redial from the nineteen sixty and as you guys have indicated, he also told me that most omega black dials of that era are re dials..I got it for a pretty good price. And he did confirm it's fourteen k so that helps a little bit.. I like to watch.I'll just wear it and chalk it up to lesson learned
