    Hello All,

New to the forum and vintage watches for that matter. I have the opportunity to purchase a watch that the seller describes as:

    1952 Omega Automatic Bumper
    signed cal. 351
    17 jewel Swiss 'bumper' movement
ser 131543xx, tear drop lugs, signed 14K gf back and case
signed original crown, clean acrylic crystal

I am wondering if any on the experts on this forum could give me some advice based on the following photos. Does this look like an original Omega? does it appear to have been altered from original? What should i look for if looking at the watch in person?

Also any idea what it could be worth?

Can't tell if the dial is original or not for sure from that picture. What is on the caseback?

    "What is on the caseback?"

I think its just a reflection. I haven't seen it in person yet. Would it originally have had an acrylic crystal?

Yep, plastic crystal. I think the crown might be a replacement though.

Can you tell me what model it is? Any idea on a value in the condition it is in?

Can't help with the model, I think it's one of those gold filled U.S. cases but I'm not exactly sure. Maybe $250-350?

I have been doing some research and most seem to come up as "seamaster". Did they make simply an "Omega Automatic" in 1952

Yes, Omega did make quite a few watches that weren't part of a series like Constellation or Seamaster. The front crystal would be plastic / acrylic (called Hesalite). If the dial is original I'd say it's a good purchase up to $375 but count on having it serviced. 85% of the watches I've bought off eBay need a cleaning, oiling and adjusting (the basic service done to a watch) whether or not the seller said it was serviced.

And the crown is a replacement as Kyle pointed out.

If the dial is not original what would the value you be?

Thanks for all the quick responses!!!

To me it would be a parts watch, which would be $0 since I already have a bumper movement for parts, the crown is wrong, and am not interested in a gold filled case.

I understand. However, how much would a re-dial reduce the $375 on the open market? I understand these are just estimations.

    Probably to the $200 - $275 range.
