    Hi all,
Would be interested in views on this? All original? What do you think of the dial? How could it be cleaned up? Value?
The case number and caliber number match on the omega database, movement looks in reasonable nick.
    Thanks all $(KGrHqJ,!r!F!-HEed(zBQS8CJniUw~~60_3.JPG

Another one of Hoi's favorite critiques, but I agree with him. The minute hand should not be longer than the second hand and it should not over extend the minute/second track. Bob found another minor fault in the replacement crown. I'd add that the movement has been cleaned in too strong of a solution. The copper plating is wearing off unevenly. Overall a nice watch at $375 or less, and personally I'd only go $320-ish and take a chance that the dial would clean up with a dip or two.

Thanks all. Kind of reminds me of the sketch from Life of Brian,
REG: All right, but apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?
    XERXES: Brought peace.
    REG: Oh. Peace? Shut up!

It ended at $204, with the reserve not having been met.

Google "Rustwatch". James Rust gives a good value and good service.
I don't know if he will send to Australia, but certainly worth an e-mail.

I don't do the dipping, but several guys use a 50/50 solution of Haggerty's Jewelry cleaner and Tarn-X then rinse with distilled water. It's a fine line between cleaning off dirt and removing ink.

Of course you could also ruin the dial forever with whatever you dip it into...

This is very true . Different dials have different paints and finishing materials. Some of the older varnish covered dials are very tricky and easily destroyed as the varnish is dissolved. Sometime it is better to just gently was with mild soap and water. Sometimes a light brushing of a wet dial can damage it. If a dial looks reasonably OK it is generally better to leave it alone.

Diluted lemon juice has also been discussed as a good alternative.
