By all means, if you like the look of it and find the price fair - buy it. Just don't think that it'll ever form the cornerstone of any decent collection. Redial, relumed, overpolished...

Oh, and go and make a BIG pot of coffee and sit down and read through the archives here on Omegaforums. It'll save you a lot of hassle.

"Redial, relumed, overpolished..." that's why I appreciate the help you guys provide. Sure is an attractive piece. I will have to do some reading to see what is a fair market price.

At least the seller's description is pretty honest (as far as it goes) regarding the originality of the watch. It will probably never attract a collector, but from my point of view, it's fairly aesthetically pleasing. It all depends on whether you would feel happy giving it wrist time and the price paid.

I would strongly urge against it. You may think now that you don't mind a watch in that condition, but you will regret it later.....

"Redial, relumed, overpolished..." makes me think I should just stick with the citizen chrono as the dress watch. In reality, I very rarely have an occasion to wear one though the Aqua Tera would bring things to a nice conclusion. View attachment 143757

Recently came across a similar model from the same watchmaker/seller that OP posted above (via his personal website, not ebay) - the dial has been restored to life, but not entirely replaced. Apologies in advance for my naiveness, but would like your opinions on a fair price based on your expertise in the space. I know a model like OP posted won't mean much to a true collector, but plan to get this as a gift for a family member, and not as concerned about the collector value component. As such, would ~$1,050 be overpaying in any of your opinions?

Why didn't you post photos? It's impossible to give you real advice without photos.

In my opinion there is no reason to buy a watch like this. It has no collectible value, so if you like the way it looks, just go to the store and buy a new watch that has a vintage style. You will get a brand new movement and a factory warrantee.

Sorry, photos are below. And like I said, I understand that the collectable value is not there. I am simply asking what a realistic price for a piece like this would be, considering the dial has been restored. ATTACH]576560[/ATTACH] upload_2018-6-12_17-53-53.png

Why don't you create a new thread rather than digging up ancient ones?

Geezus Khryst, these n00bs are CONSTANTLY falling for the piece of shit watches all because they're magpies and are attracted to "OOOOOO, SHINY!!!!!". ::facepalm2::

No wonder there are sooooo many overpolished redials - because there are soooooo many inexperienced fools aching to buy what they think is a "vintage" watch, yet for some reason think it should look like a new watch.

Realistic price for that watch = $100. At most. And only if I were piss drunk.

Surely this is the same watch? Neither one seems to have a tension ring. Both bad, bad, bad.

Maybe the crystal was just removed for photos. Not the same watch though, since some of the lume plots are a different shape and the "SWISS" text is different at the bottom.

I agree with the "bad" part. :)

If they where 1/2 the price by all means buy it to wear as that is the value if you ever try to sell it, if you could find a buyer.

    Otherwise avoid this seller.
