·Dear forum friends,
Looking for a new home for my J88 civilian “Bundeswehr” chronograph. Chrome-plated, full of charm and gusto - it embodies German post-war aesthetic, while being the first milwatch to be created and distributed after the fall of the Reich.
Military J88s were purpose-built instruments, with characteristics intended for navigation and timing:
It’s gorgeous dodecagonal bezel is the star lf the show, it shows some plating loss but its in overall good shape.
The dial is all original, and the crystal is a recent replacement.
The J88 caliber itself is a hand-wound column-wheel chronograph with, as mentioned above, a flyback function. For a relatively compact 1950s German movement, it’s an impressively sophisticated piece of engineering.
This is a civilian version (no Bundeswehr markings), but its a beauty.
Offering sharp pricing, because although it keeps time and the chronograph function works, I recommend a service.
$1,600 shipped in CONUS. Watch and I are in NY where handoff can also happen!
