Hi all,

I picked up my seamaster on an eBay auction a couple of weeks ago as a intermittent runner. I put it in for service and it needed a setting lever spring. I sourced a genuine one through a supplier in Australia. Top bunch of people too. Anyway we had it all completed. Picked her up and within 2 days the mainspring broke and turned intself into a 3 piece ikea kit.
2 weeks of sourcing parts and it finally done. So today was day one again. I put a new hand made artisan strap on her. Very happy. Runs like a dream and I have a piece of seamaster history as it’s 2 years into the seamaster production run. Getting used to the 351 bumper action too.

Here’s my 1950 Seamaster. Like yours, it has it’s original dial and, also like yours, it doesn’t have 'Seamaster' on the dial.

This one is interesting and semi-related to the topic: "Seamaster" was added to the dial after the rest of the lettering was printed. You can see that it is slightly misaligned and under a loupe you can see that the ink is a different weight and color.

Lovely example! The blue steel hand especially
Yes, I am a sucker for blue hands. There is many variants of the 2635 mine being a -6. I am a vintage watch enthusiast but lately I have been fixed on the 50’s and 60’s.

Your watch is pristine for its age, lovely piece. I find it somewhat confusing as an amateur on how the seamaster branding works. I have seen earlier ones branded, similar year branded and others not but like mine are still classified by omega as a seamaster.

Who added the seamaster logo to the dial at a later date? Was it omega or someone else. Either way it is a lovely piece mate.

What reference is the OP’s watch? I didn’t think these were Seamasters.

This one is a Seamaster as it’s the same reference (2577) as the later ones with Seamaster on the dial and models without the name on the dial were labeled as Seamasters in advertisements at the time.

My assumption is Omega. There would be no reason for anyone else to need to, and my watchmaker and I agree it is original.

Omega told me it’s a seamaster

It looks like original print. I have seen many redials and this looks legit just misaligned.

Very nice looking. This is hurting my heart a bit as I sold my last vintage seamaster. I had six at one point and I thought they all looked so similar I started not liking them so I sold 2 gave 4 away to friends and family as gifts but kept the 67. It wasn’t special had a few dial dings but I was hoping to buy a railmaster so I needed to move a few things. I like the buyer he is actually a friend now but he showed up light on cash so I fell well short of my railmaster goal. I figured it’s a start though and sold him the few things he wanted. Now I miss my seamaster. Why the hell was I giving away seamasters? Just cause my wife’s family liked them. They better not have sold them. I’m gonna check eventually. I think we should have a moratorium on vintage seamaster postings until I finish my mourning period. And don’t give away watches as I find no one is eager to return the favor. I’m gonna become a less kinder gentler watch guy. And yes I gave him a great of course.

Probably not likely but if some whales could pump Bitcoin 50-60% I can take care of things from there
