Hey guys first time posting. I have my grandfather's Omega watch that is all original and still works great. I've looked high and low and have finally come across what looks to be the same model 2179. This is the civilian version since the back does not say US Army. He was in WWII but that's the extent of knowledge I have as to when he got it. Any idea on what's it's worth? I'm not going to sell it but just curious. 20180825_152600.jpg Screenshot_20180607-181328.png

Congratulations, that looks like a fine heirloom. Were you thinking of getting it serviced?

I agree, these little gems are greatly admired here.

Good question. If it hasn't been serviced in the past 5 to ten years it would be advisable to prevent undue wear and tear on the internals.

It looks like I can send it to Omega for them to service it. However, I wouldn't want the dial touched at all. It has a story and the only thing I would consider getting done is to polish the stainless steel.

No need to send it to Omega. Just have the movement serviced by a trusted local watchmaker. No polishing!
