Just want to share with you my latest addition. It's a 35 mm Longines powered by a 12.68Z that comes with a charming two-tone dial and stepped bezel. According to the movement no. it dates back to 1942. Will have to ask for an extract though to know for sure. Here are the pics, hope you enjoy as much as I do )
Hi @yako54. Can I ask the circumstances of the purchase ? Mainly interested as I was the original buyer who got dropped/snaked a day after paying.
Thanks for your comments! The item was relisted by the seller. My bid was also cancelled out of the first listing. He relisted it then without international shipping and also let the auction run to the end.
I bought it as a buy-it-now BEFORE the first auction. Your cancellation wasn’t the first listing, it was the second. And your purchase was the third. No blame on you though, as fast as I can see. Just a shitty seller...
Sorry to hear that! That's something what becomes more and more common in the last time it seems Seller might have received a lot of attention respectively messages on this one - which is no excuse for such unethical behaviour, but certainly had influence on his actions. I for myself kept quiet during the whole auction and felt very lucky when I saw that my snipe was successful.
Everything looks legit My personal worry was the alloy mid-case, but Longines have just sent me the following. ———————————————————— Further to your request, we are pleased to provide the information contained in Longines' handwritten registers for the serial number 6'410'652 (not 6'410'852). The original serial number 6'410'652 identifies a wristwatch in stainless steel with the middle part of the case in zinc-chromium alloy, bearing the reference 4179. It is fitted with a Longines manually wound mechanical movement, caliber 12.68Z and was invoiced on 19 May 1943 to the company Ostersetzer, which was at that time our agent for Italy.
Many thanks for sharing @w154 I was also a little worried about the middle case. Thread title corrected to "1943 Longines" Would be interesting to see other Longines with non stainless steel middle case.
