Greetings! In an unrelenting effort to reduce the amount of radium dial watches in my collection, one of my favorite Eternas is up for grabs, and I dare say it is literally a unique piece. Its case serial dates to 1941 and it contains the in-house Eterna cal. 1034H bumper movement, which winds smoothly and keeps time reasonably well. Setting the time (including all crown actions) works flawlessly. I do not own any pictures of the movement because I won't open radium dial watches. On the topic of its case: it is all stainless steel, features a screw in back and appears unpolished. The case has drilled lugholes. The crown however appears to have been replaced at some point, but makes for a nice match regardless. It is 32mm in diameter, excluding the crown, and takes 16mm straps. The dial is unique in every uncompromising sense of the word. Both time and arguably the radium have had their way with the presumably originally black center of the dial, as well as the outer ring of the bullseye. I find its aged aesthetic highly attractive but I am aware that it has that 'marmite'-effect: hate it or love it! Did I say 'gilt dial'? Oh, yes, I did. The dial changes in appearance with the most subtle of light variances. I think it thrives in heavy sunlight but it makes for a show even in more subsided lighting conditions. In direct but low light, there is not much of a gilt shine to be seen, but the dial instead becomes matte in appearance. I consider the seconds hand one of the most elegant designs I've ever come across. When tilting the watch just right, however, its hidden nature reveals itself, particularly in harsher light. To further illustrate my point, please consider the video below to be fully representative of the real-life look of this watch. Sales specifics Please note that I haven't always been as active on OF as I am today but that I can provide you with 25+ references from a Dutch watch forums, if desired; I use the same username there. https://omegaforums.net/threads/great-transaction-with-mafkees.85080/ https://omegaforums.net/threads/a-fine-experience-with-mafkees.133256/ My asking price for this what I believe to be a unique piece is EUR 350,00 head-only, not including any strap, but including shipping within the EU. Bank wire only. The leather strap as pictured has barely been worn and we can discuss adding that one to the agreement, if desired. I for one think it's an ideal match.
Some nibbles but no biters just yet. Up it goes. Also, I realized that I didn't embed the video correctly before, so please see below.
I snapped a set of pics directly under my aquarium lights. These are cropped, but fully unedited, which applies to all pictures I post. The gilt dial is the (literal) highlight here. I feel this set showcases the dynamic of this dial very well.
