I inherited this pocket watch and was wondering if anyone can help me with more information and possible value and authenticity
It looks legit to me, but I'm no expert on these things. As for value, a similar one sold on Hodinkee (not sure when) for $3500. Your one looks in nicer condition though and has a different case.
Love the 'dummy' fourth subdial. It balances the dial beautifully in my opinion and back in the day surely made an excellent 'poor man's Tri'!
Quite lovely indeed. I own 2 UG Compax Pocketwatches (different variations then this one) and have been cataloging them in a database. Yours is all legit and is right in line serial number wise with the one that sold on Hodinkee not too long ago for the aforementioned $3500 (remember seller didn’t get that amount). Your condition looks better IMO as well. These came in a handful of variations, this being one of them the 52504. It’s really a treat to have one. Enjoy it! Please send me the movement number if you would so I can add it to my database, I’d be most grateful.
Really gorgeous. Talk with @MattF - he has TWO of these beauties, and has quite an extensive knowledge of them. Enjoy!
Well, via a few interim steps over the past six months, this gorgeous Universal Geneve Compax Chronograph has made its way into my UG collection. Circa 1944, it’s cased in warm 14k yellow gold, with a beautiful blue tachy ring in great shape around the perimeter. Reference number is 52504 - same case as in Sala - but with a gorgeous radium dial. I know of only a few other UG Compax pocket watches worldwide - including the GORGEOUS ones owned by our friends here @LouS and @MattF , but if anyone else has one to add to the universe, I’m sure we’d all LOVE to see it!
wow, she's quite a stunner ! Don't see pocket watches often, and when I do, they are usually pretty mediocre. This is top top top shelf
Thanks, just couldn’t resist grabbing this one, even though in practice it’s not gonna get must “wrist” time...
