My dad found this at a local estate sale. It seems that the pocket watches aren't as collectible as the wristwatches, but the condition on this one appears great. Anyone have information?
Nice piece! That movement is more or less why I love Longines. Quality from the golden era. Looks to be issued of some kind too.
I was thinking of buying it from him. The local jewelry shop offered him $185. I think it's worth more, even though it needs serviced.
Is there a caliber number on the movement? Looks like maybe a 18.72 More in the 5-600$ range I believe.
Lovely watch! Cal. 19.73 FSSC = "Federal Standard Stock Catalog", followed by a case design number. These were used during the war by other manufacturers including Elgin and Hamilton.
I think @Radiumpassion is correct regarding the caliber. Note the separate reseting hammers of the 19.73. A very clean example. Would love to find one for $185.
