i dont think case is contemporary. winder awful etc.

i can put in silver period wire lug case as i want a watch for my son. its only a 30mm case.

Its already a frankenwatch. the case and the dial were made in different decades and put together later. It's likely a wristlet or pocket watch that was put in maybe a 2144 case or something similar- whatever reference is on the inner caseback..

How does one know?

forgive my ignorance at asking what may be so obvious.

i understand how one can date movement. is my 1923 correct?

if the above is right. how are u dating the face as non 1920s?

It is not the dial but the screw down watch case which made him state Frankenwatch
