I have this 1915 or so Single Button wrist chronograph which i would like confirmation on its identity - inside case back is the Omega mark, 5413821 and depose 9840 - on the dust cover is again 5413821 and below it 22 - one watchmaker who looked at it but would not venture a repair said the movement number was 552067 but i cant see this number anywhere = I have included a few pics to aid in possible identification - thank you Teresa

Hi, interesting Omega chronograph. It seems to be one of the first wristwatch chronograph Omega made. The case serial number is what determines its age. It would be from approximately 1915. The patent number 9846 identifies it as a wristwatch. Hard to say but from the photos everything seems to be proper, except it’s missing the crown. It would be very important to further research, this could be a very valuable wristwatch. Read the threads at the bottom “similar threads” more information can be found.

I paid pretty good for it because I had a hunch it was very early - actually considered historically important say some reviewers. I took it to an Omega dealer, he sent it out for repair, those folks sent it to Omega in Europe and they sent it back, saying they couldn't source the parts or do the work. I doubt that, i think they just didnt want the project. Next I took it to a nationally known watch maker and dealer in Penna - he gave me an estimate but was it seemed too busy to bother with some of the questioins i had - I never did meet him and the girl passing messages wasn't helpful. If i am spending a few thousand dollars on some work, I should at least have a conversation. Anyway, for now it is in the drawer - thanks for the response

Maybe your only option is the watchmaker from Penna. Try him again and make sure he has the parts in hand to repair your watch.
Good luck

Wondering, is the balance wheel staff Ok. Does it start ticking if shaken?
Is there a stem left or the crown and stem missing.
