Hi guys, so I just got this one in! I haven’t opened it up yet, but reckon it’s a 168010/11; Do we concur?
Anyone would like to chime in on originality and condition..Dial is 100% blemish and spot free.. A bonus!

Congratulations
Probably an .010 - they tend to have that broader field around the medallion, the same .004 field is usually slightly narrower (a .011 would have a solid gold dial and broad, flat onyx inserts)
A straight on image of the dial would help to see the relationship of the lugs to the indices.

Nice enough watch, case looks a little soft -but again, better images would help assess.

Replacement crown, of course - but that just makes it easier to wind.

Good looking dial.
However, the dials on these references do tend to bubble, so look very closely (I had one I thought was perfect until I saw the dial 'naked' in the watchmakers photos.)

The front and the indices don’t look rose.
Is it not just the lighting?

For reference this is my last rose gold purchase, it's almost impossible to tell from the gold itself, it's practically yellow, but the dial and the date disk is the giveaway for me

On this watch they looked rose to me as well, but could be the lighting

..Just opened it up.. It’s actually a 1966 168004/14 in 18ct yellow gold - Lighting in above pics was poor.. More pics to follow soon.. ! Thrilled that it has a very almost 36mm case!

Where are the photos? I'm still curious about the hue of the dial

The dial looks indeed bigger than the constellation. Not surprised it’s 36 and in the jumbo category.
Sorry about the crystal. Well better the crystal than anything else right?

..dropped it and cracked the original crystal 😩

Sorry to hear you damaged the crystal - its always traumatic to drop any watch - but by way of ‘silver lining’ you can now replace the hideous cyclops crystal with a lovely plain version.

My apologies for seeming to correct you twice in as many days @drpaul but I believe the .004 and .010 are officially 35mm and are not ‘jumbo’ Constellations. ( no matter what some unscrupulous dealers might like to say)

However, the dial most definitely does look bigger than a ‘standard’ 34.5mm Constellation because of the bezel / dial arrangement.

Happy to be corrected. Happy to learn.

I don’t think original crystal ever came with a cyclops. Plain one will be better as suggested.

Omega did supply cyclops crystals - You could ask for one when you bought the watch but they were special order.
Of course, they could also have been swapped at service for those with failing eyesight.
Whatever the reason, (IMHO) they don’t belong on a Constellation and a plain one will look so much better.

..Question is, did the 168004 originally come with a cyclops crystal or not? The one I damaged is signed Omega..

Not as standard but you could order one by Omega.
Cyclops crystals are very much a Rolex design statement not Omega.

Many vintage Omega’s can be seen with optional factory cyclops crystals. I believe these crystals with cyclops have the L designation after the number eg 5072 without cyclops, 5072L with cyclops.

A friend of mine just posted this one in his Facebook account. 18k pie pan dial without cyclops and looks like a 011.

..Thanks for info guys, yeah will probably source an original Omega non cyclops crystal then, should be easier than the other one to find. 👍
