Been looking at these pictures from a local online auction that ends in about 8 hours. - Case has been polished to the "oh, shiny" state - Dial shows some even patina But i struggle with the font. Is that a legit variant of the coathanger-S? My searches have not shown me an identical one. Unfortunately there is no straight-on pic available. So redial or original? Thank you very much.
I believe that is a legit variant. I've had a few with that version. From the photos provided, I think the dial is okay. If I'm wrong, we'll know soon enough.
Is there anything on that watch that makes you believe it could be a redial besides the font you are unsure of? Placement of markers? Dial patina? Printed minute track? Missing dial lume? Overall condition not corresponding with dial? I'd say that the only minuses of this specimen is the slightly polished state (a picture of the caseback would be nice...), the replaced crown (not a biggie) and the relumed (replaced?) hands.
I knew I'd seen that flat top S somewhere when I was looking at a watch. On the phone but how about this? https://omegaforums.net/threads/seamaster-118-391-2848-2846-sc-anyone-familiar.5710/#post-66701 Cheers, Chris
If i would have great pictures as these, all would be clear for me if redialled or original. Thank you all for your replies. Polished case and replacement crown i can live with, hands probably too (they should be to replace easier, than the dial). I have tried to straighten the original "Seamaster"-script out (yes, i know it is a poor attempt): The only one that is very close comes from the thread Chris pointed to (also a 2846): Given the fact, that the original pic was taken at an angle i'd say we could very well have a match!
I meant to say that there appears to be a little rubbing of the rotor, not unusual for these. Hope you get it! Chris
