Hi All, I just picked up this 18k gold Longines Conquest and I’m wondering if any of you have any insight. I already ordered a correct replacement crown which is coming next week, but what is unusual to me is that this French market Fab. Suisse watch was cased in France (according to the “history of my watch“ report from Longines, and as evidenced by the French eagle hallmarks seen in these photos), and that the case shape and inside caseback markings differ from the usual Swiss cases. Also, the serial number on the movement of 9'254'360 seems early for a Conquest, although Longines says it was delivered to their French agent in 1955. Anyone have any experience or insight about these issues ? Thanks!
The difference in case shape and serial are due to the national production in France - to my eyes, the case seems very close to the bog standard Swiss variant. Nice pick up!
really nice piece, both my Swiss Conquests has a different gold medal from this one (the fish). As usual, the medal caseback is crazy nice.
Fish is for steel or gold capped cases, the blue enameled starred background with waves is correct for solid gold cases.
