I have been seeking to purchase either the moon watch or a the first Omegas in Space. I have the usual dilemma of which one but that is not the reason for this post.
I have been given conflicting advise regarding the manufacture of the 1861 movement.
Could anyone confirm if the 1861 movement is in-house or ETA manufactured
I am sure one of you guys know for certain
    Many Thanks

What does in house mean for you..

It is not a ETA they buy and put in the watch.

Google "Omega cal 1861" there is tons of information.
Google " Moon watch or Speedmaster movements"

The 1861 movement is an evolution of a Lemania movement - Omega has been improving on the 861 since 1968 or so (at least in the Speedmaster) so while the original design did not come from Omega, they are built and assembled by Omega.
