A bit of collection refocus means that I’m going to have a few watches up for grabs over the next few weeks. First off is this late 1960s Breitling Top Time 810. A lovely watch, and really captures that Paul Newman aesthetic, from a big Swiss name, at a small fraction of the usual price! Case : Stainless steel, shows signs of many years of wear, or perhaps some polishing (especially on the case back, however the factory engravings are still visible). Dimensions : Case width 38mm (wears big, and this is already 2mm bigger then it’s contemporary Rolex cousins), 15mm thickness, lugs 21mm (I have attached a 22mm strap to avoid ‘strap gap’) Crystal : Plexiglass, good condition Lume : Tritium, aged with nice patina, but a few dots are missing. Movement : Hand wound Venus 178 chronograph caliber. Serviced in January 2018 by top vintage watch experts Swiss Tech UK (the name for STS when they service non-Omega watches). Unfortunately I forgot to ask them to take a movement picture, and I’m a bit dubious about taking the back off myself, but it goes without saying it’s in good and fully working condition - it benefits from the balance of a one year warranty with them anyway. Dial and Hands: As is common with this model, the dial shows some deterioration of the lacquer around the edges (clearly visible on the pictures). Although this is visible under magnification, it does not detract from the watch’s charm when worn, and viewed with the naked eye, in my opinion. Strap : Brand new HODINKEE distressed leather ‘Davenport’ strap in racing green. Shipping : The price of $1,850 net to me via PayPal or Bank Transfer) includes insured shipping CONUS only.
