wrist time
·Hello,
Looking for some guidance on a watch on offered to me. When turning the crown in the first position the date wheel doesn't move. The date does change when the hands reach midnight.
The seller buys watch and has them serviced back in his home country before selling them on. After having this watch serviced all functions worked including the date change. However he noticed a speck of dust under the crystal and took it back to the watchmaker to remove. It wasn't till he was back in the UK that he noticed it now had the date setting issue. He originally planned to take it back to the watchmaker before selling but is having some medical issues and doesn't know when he can travel again.
Any insight on what could caused this? Ideally I'd like to know if this a minor fix or if the watch will need another complete service.
I'll add that according to the seller this is the first issue he's had with the watchmaker's work. I previously purchased a watch from the seller and know someone who has purchased several. All have been running well and keeping time. A timegrapher report was included with every watch. I believe he's generally a competent watchmaker.
Thanks in advance for any insight.
