Hello I'm new to this forum and need advise. I just purchased this chrono. The seller said it has the original finish and not over polished. However hen I received the watch I could see that at sometime it looks to have had a dremel to it or some type of buffering. It is very small and not really that noticable unless you look for it. Question is does this amount detract from the value? Other than that it looks great and runs great. Has original bracelet. I paid $1800 for it. Would you return it?

It is not a original finnish as these had a different pattern of finnish, and in my opinion i wouldnt pay that sort of money for a case looking like that, if possible return it. On this forum you will probably find a nice one.

I did take a look at other examples online and many are terrible with crystal and dial issues. Some had rusted pushers. Others had rounded case lines due to bad polishing. It's my understanding that it is virtually impossible to have this crystal changed. This watche's crystal is perfect. They were commanding more than the $1800 I paid for this one. This example only has only the two areas that mentioned. Yet the 2 spots have me concerned. I'm new to watches and don't want to get burned. So the $1800 was not worth it.

Also just noticed that the crystal looks like it is slightly higher on the right side than the other. Is this normal for vintage watches? Or is it more likely that he had the crystal replaced and did a poor job due to their propensity of breaking while installing due to the lack of a rare tool that I read online? Please help. I need to return tomorrow if I am. Thanks all

the height of the glass wouldn't concern me, as many have a higher glass in the omega family from that era(speedmaster mk2-4, flightmaster) and if you like the watch you should keep it, at the later pictures it doesn't look bad. in the end if you like it you should keep it-you are the wearer of it-i had plenty of the 1040 caliber watches and its a bulletproof caliber is well maintained.

Is this super bad? Also was this possibly done at the factory or after market? Does this affect the value tremendously? Or just a bad watch all together and I should return? Thanks all!

I'm a newbie and I don't want to be impetuous with this one. Should I return and keep looking? Or do you feel that despite its issues it still is a good buy?

How much trouble can I get in with a raised crystal? Or exposed O ring?

So an o-ring is a rubber gasket of some sort that seals the crystal? When I run my fingernail at the edge there is no rubber. It feels like the edge I'd the crystal - hard glass or plastic. It really looks like the crystal is just raised slightly on one side. Do you think that this was a factory mishap or improperly installing a aftermarket crystal? Again thanks guys. You are all very helpful!
