Started by @Pip on another forum and referenced - https://omegaforums.net/threads/seikos.33518/page-39#post-833140... the 16th November 1973 was when Col William Pogue headed to space, carrying the first automatic chronograph to leave the earth's gravity.

    #PogueDay is here!

Here's my July 1969 silver dial 6139-6000, supposedly very rare due to the combination of colours and dial markings. Acquired through OF last year, since serviced, jewelled, relumed and now looking great.

I didn’t know that - the things you learn on this forum.... and most amazing of all, the 16th Nov is my birthday!

Unfortunately I’m on holiday and my Pogue is at home :(

Quick question - how do you date a Pogue - is there a serial number database?

The serial number on the back actually gives you the month and year the watch was made. For instance, my Pogue serial is 1D2682 which means it was made December of 1971.

A photo of Bill Pogues actual watch.
    pogue-seiko-6139.jpg

I know this is being pedantic but his watch had a "Resist" dial. Is a non-resist dial still classed as a "Pogue" by the sticklers for detail? I have a non-resist dial Pogue
    OF1.jpg
so I guess what I am asking is do I need to buy a resist dial to have a Pogue?

I know this is late, but after reading into the Pogue I ended up shopping for one (or similiar model).

I settled on a “non-Pogue” Pogue  I know it isn’t the real deal but in my opinion it was a real deal when I bought it ::bleh:: so this will just have to be close enough.

I figured the black dial with interior blue tachymeter fits more of my dress shirt / suit combos than the yellow dial with exterior red and blue bezel. Finally got it on a new strap and snapped a photo :)

Realise I forgot to add a photo of mine... here it is.. serial number dates it to Jan 1972:

I think the bracelet and end links are wrong tho - the last link looks too wide:

Anyone know what the correct end link/bracelet should be or if there’s a reference number?

    Thanks..

For a 1972 watch it would not have had the tapered bracelet, it should be straight. There is a good repro from UncleSeiko available, I have it on mine.

Great thanks - I’ll order one to use until I can find a period one (unless someone here has one they’d like to sell to me...)
