Hoping you guys can help me out with a vexing problem. I have a white 1680 that needed the crown replaced. I bought a NOS 703 crown and tube for it, with my understanding being that the 702 or the 703 are both acceptable for that reference. Since the 703 offers superior waterproofing with lower cost, I went with the 703.

Now my watchmaker is saying that the 703 won’t sit flush with the case because of a beveled edge on its crown tube. But I’m nearly positive that 703 crowns were often put onto 1680s at service. Is there any reason why a 703 crown would not fit the case of a later (5 and a half million serial) 1680?
