Unfortunately the bezel on my beautiful Japanese connie piepan has split whilst at service. Seems there was a hairline fracture and corrosion underneath. Can anyone help with a source for a replacement? Much appreciated in advance for any suggestions
I think you might be better off having it repaired than trying to replace it. A good gold jeweler should be able to clean out the corrosion and maintain the dimensions, and possibly even be able to custom fit it back to the rest of the case. These were fitted at the factory one-by-one. No guarantee that a replacement would fit your case. Good luck, gatorcpa
Ahh Thanks Gatorcpa. Sound advice as always. I was hoping that there was maybe a direct replacement to be had. Which in its own way would then make the watch less original of course something that I am trying to steer away from. I think you can just see the corrosion in the shadow below the split. Such a shame and just before Christmas
I have had a gold capped '50's Seamaster, with a bloody great crack in the capping, laser welded in the past You would be surprised what the laser can 'heal' - It looked like new afterwards - about £70 As the 'Gator' says.....A good jeweller ?
Hey Andrew , hope you are well? - one of those things unfortunately that only comes to light when it gets taken apart. It will be fine. Still a beaut to me.
