168.005 - I’m suspicious

Hello OF, after inhalation of Desmond’s great constellation fake finder, I wanted to test myself a bit. I found on eBay many clear fakes. A bit more difficult is this 168.005:

The Arms should be blank or not? There should be no T beside Swiss Made?! The t of Constellation should be horizontal on the right side?!
The inner Backside of the cap looks poorly brushed?!

the case is in my eyes ok
How are your impressions. I’m still beginner and learn how to swim and would be happy about your experience! 😀

kind regards
Franzjoni

I believe your suspicions are incorrect, in my eyes it seems like a good one. Not in perfect shape but nice and probably all original. How good of a catch is it will depend on the price.

Do you means hands? The hands on this watch should contain lume. These hands are incorrect as they should be faceted and the lume should extend closer to the centre point.

There should be no T beside Swiss Made?!
Swiss Made T is correct. If you look at the ends of the indices you can make out the small notches where the lume should sit, - I think the lume is missing here!

The t of Constellation should be horizontal on the right side?!
All fonts look correct to me.

The inner Backside of the cap looks poorly brushed?!
Again looks fine.

The crown (although correct in style & size) is a later replacement.
The case back seal is missing.
The case and lugs are over polished.

Overall an average example, not really collector grade.

1500 € - on the Dial are also two yellow areas and I guess it is necessary that my watchmaker gives a little service

Thanks noddyman, for your answer! Is it common, that the lume is taken away or was falling off? In general im looking also for a steel case for wearing regullary for work. A watch for this duty dont has to be in a collectors grade. But i guess that the price is too high for this quality !?

Don’t be disheartened by getting it wrong this time @Franzjoni - by asking questions and by the kind intervention of members like @Noddyman , this is how you learn ( as do other watchers who aren’t brave enough to put their heads above the parapet and pick up on the good advice given)

As for the watch itself, I think €1500 is far too much for a case in this condition ( the beauty of the dogleg is in its lug facets) and with incorrect hands
I also suspect that there are marks on the dial cleverly obscured by carefully arranged lighting reflections.

No! All fine! This is a small cosmos and I started just a few weeks ago. A Forum like the OF is really important for learning...

Thanks for your additional advises. Im not impatient and will wait for my Connie 😉
