I am looking for a replacement bezel for my Seamaster 300 ref 166.024 BT...My bezel (1st image) has a fair amount of damage. Can anyone tell me which is correct for the 166.024? I assume the bezel on mine is correct, it has rounded fonts with flat tops. Ive located this bezel (2nd image), but the fonts are completely different...is it wrong for this reference?
This replacement bezel you're looking at is not the earliest version, but acceptable on earlier models according to what I've read. It's certainly not a late version, and it looks to be a nice replacement for you. Very nice piece by the way
According to this reference the fat font bezel you're looking at should be correct. http://thatwatchandmore.blogspot.com/2013/03/buying-vintage-omega-seamaster-300.html
The watchandmore blog is based on my original post: http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.p...mega-Seamaster-300-including-Military-watches even uses some of my original pics.
Thanks. I've looked at this a dozen times and still can't determine which two bezels I have here. Based on this info the watch is 1968 (27,99X)...is the bezel a good match?
I have not come across any 'definitive' details for the chronological order for the various bezels. Out of interest my SM300 has the same bezel as your replacement one ....................
Well, some input on the chronological order on the 166.024's bezels, based on what I have researched through the years. These 166.024’s pictured below are some of the examples from my archieves (the last one sold by OF’s Kringkily)….all are serial 27-28.x, most 27.9x. all produced rather late in 69, not 68. All with the same bezel – fat font, rounded triangle, no serif on the 1 - like your original mounted one. I believe these are the final bezel type on the 166.024. This font also continued on the 166.073 bezel, which was regarded as the replacement model. The below type with the closed five has been seen on the earlier 166.024’s from the 68 production, typically 26.x serial. Your “replacement” one with the horizontal 1, hasn’t been seen originally on the 166.024’s as far as I know. It is most commonly seen on serial 24.x and 25.x, 165.024 productions in 66 og 67. But it will still suit the Watch just fine ;-)
I'm not an oracle on these, but I would agree that the bezel you're looking at is an earlier version seen arounf ~24.7xxxxx 165.024 Hope this helps
Guess I should have looked in my own house first Here is my 165.024 ser 25.5 with the same bezel. I guess the quest continues...for now I'm snagging this to upgrade the BT.
https://omegaforums.net/threads/opinions-on-a-seamaster-300-please.36252/#post-411802 I havn't seen those on the 166.024, only on 165.024's serial 25x or 26x serials. But in most of the Omega add's I've seen, the 166.024's actually features the open five bezel (like yours). But since it's the bezel from just before the 166.024 production starts, I think it's more of a marketing mockup, than what they were delivered with. Anyway, could be that very early ones had that open five bezel. Just havn't seen any real life ones. They had the closed five bezel or the fat font straight one bezel.
