Hi guys !

I would like to hear your opinion about my 16570 (black) researches !
I'm looking to buy a Tritium one but step by step I'm thinking that maybe a Swiss only could be more interesting (in the investment side) what do you think ?

Patina or rarity ? (even if it is not that hard to find)

Thanks ! cheers

Tritium has a warmth that luminova can’t match but it’s essentially what you’re attracted to the most. In the Swiss only dials favor, however, you see more and usually better examples available

Thanks for your answers
Yes the patina is what attract me the most actually... so no real interest on buying a swiss only ?

Not personally. Keep in mind that Swiss only dials were made from approximately 1998-2000 but are not what I would consider rare as Rolex production numbers were very high

Tritium looks way better, and the market seems to follow that.

Tritium is gonna age interestingly, some are already beginning to show! several members here have shown beautiful examples.

Personally I would go for a Super Luminova “Swiss Made.” The tritium aging varies and some may turn only slightly to an egg shell white. For me the darker yellowing looks especially striking on white dial explorers, not too much on the black dial. The 16570 is a modern watch and I value the convenience of working lume. I don’t think there will be such a large difference in “collector value” unless you have an especially attractive tritium aging. Just my two cents.

FWIW, I had a luminova one from around 2001 and the lume was very weak. Bordering unusable compared to Seiko lume.

I would recommend buying what you like! I personally love patina and dislike the green lume on the super luminova (i am more of a chromalight kind of guy!)

A Swiss only dial can be two things:

1/ A factory dial produced at the turn of the 21st century (as mentioned above)
2/ A service dial

I avoid Swiss only dials altogether because of reason #2

I never knew #2..! Thanks for the information
