Hi Guys- I've been offered this SM300 in trade and was hoping to get some expert thoughts (waiting on caseback). Here are my first impressions: Hands do not match dial. Perhaps service replacements. Dial seems to have a nice patina in one pic, and in the other looks newer/greener. Which is more accurate do you think? Bezel in good shape, a little corrosion near the 10 Case seems to be in good shape, thick lugs. 552 Movement looks extra new and shiny. Is this a recently assembled model? Or just in really nice condition? Thanks all in advance.
Thanks @gemini4 @watchknut Does this look all original to you? Or a WatchCo or similar put together? I must confess, I can't tell
Not an expert on these (not on anything in fact) but that triangular plate at bottom of movement looks so different than the rotor, both in color and texture. I thought they were suppose to look similar? Raising some flags for me, hopefully (as usual) I am wrong.
Bezel is awesome and correct for serial range, holes at 12 and 6, fat case, solid polish, hands may be original, but tough to tell. Looks pretty darn nice. What are you giving up in the trade?
There is nothing WatchCo about this watch. Vintage TT dial, original bezel in great condition , correct movement, correct caseback. Hands appear tritium.
Might be re-lumed hands & dial, looking at some of the plots they are not too straight & it also looks like the 12 & 6 lume marker holes (found on most sm300 dials) have been covered over, although I'm not sure if dials that originally had no 12/6 lume plot holes do still have holes through the dial which could cause a recess like in your pictures. Still a nice looking watch & if that case is original finish I wouldn't say no.... lol I thought I was going to pick this one up cheap today from a little auction house with a estimate of just £400-500 https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/...0048/lot-0e3ab6b2-1501-4ad5-897b-a6320100901f it flew out the door at £3700 +commission Regards Mr.H
Thanks for all of your help guys. Trying to work out a trade for this Sherpa Graph. Will require some cash on their end, but hopefully will pan out. Will let you know!
