And by this, I mean in trade. Maybe with cash from the other side. By a strange twist of events, I have come into contact with a fellow who wants to trade his Seamaster 165.014 from 1964. He took it in trade for a different watch (ironically one he bought from the owner of the Seamaster) and just does not love it. We have been going back and forth on possible trades, but he keeps tagging watches in my collection I am very hesitant to part with—some very nice vintage chronographs. Knowing this is both the right (knowledge) and wrong (sentiment) place to ask, what do you think a 165.014 is worth, both as a straight-out sale and/or as a trade? I actually like this older Seamaster 300 version because I prefer slightly smaller watches, but is the 165.014 sought-after at all? Your collective opinions are sought with gratitude.
Can't comment on value or originality, but somebody will. I can answer this question though: Yes, very sought after. I don't even like dive watches but I'd wear that.
Yes it is a sought after piece and dial, hands and case look ok from the pictures provided. Would like to see back and inside pictures to make a fuller assessment. Bezel though is not intact and while it can be refinished to a high standard by Aldo in Italy, the moust sought after examples are the ones with an intact factory original bezel. From what I've seen, probably 5% of these straight lug SM300s survive with the original bezel fully intact.
It was mine. I bought it from member Sfglenrock on other forums. It was in need of a service, so I just had that done three weeks ago. Those are my pictures....
Hi In answer to the OP's question....and considering the watch as head only (strap is a 1171/633) and with a recent Service....I'd say £1600 >£1700 GBP. I think I actually prefer these slightly to the 165024's....straight lugs are very cool ! Best - Neil
