Thanks Ash, another informative deep dive! Agree these wear quite impressively; here's my De Ville markerless version:

Nice one! I often wonder when writing these how many of the obscure references are in people’s collections that we just don’t see that much as they don’t get mentioned all that much. Really cool pieces though and personally I prefer these over the oval case Dynamics on the wrist.

Here's mine. Ref. 166.0145, Cal. 563. I noticed the article said they only came with Cal. 565. Wonder if my movement was replaced?

No, 563 is also correct I’ll update to correct that as its just the 17-jewel version of the 565, effectively its the 565 for the US market but I’ll make sure that’s added thanks for reminding me.

The weird movements I’ve seen in it are 751/752s, 562s, 560s and things like that are definitely wrong.

    Weird yes, but readably available.

I have seen day/date references that do not have the 10xx divider. Was Cal. 750 also included in the Dynamic movements?

It was for other case references like the oval cases, the square case 166.081 / 166.145 are date only and were produced at the end of the 60s through to the 70s so only 563/565 are valid. The trouble is people take Day-Date dials and movements from other Geneves and drop them in, while they fit they sit incorrectly since the 75x movement is 0.5 mm thicker

Thank you. I have never seen a square case 75x.

The only two I’ve seen both had NOS round case 75x dials and because of the extra movement thickness they were sitting in a way that you could see the copper part of the movement around the edge of the dial and they had crystals with no tension ring on them, not sure if that’s because the OEM crystal didn’t fit with the ticker movement or because they were aftermarket crystals but either way the watches were clearly not correctly assembled and incorrect yea

Very informative writeup - as the owner of an oval Geneve Dynamic it's extremely interesting to note the similarities and differences between these models.

Thanks for the write up on these fantastic end 60 beginning 70s Zeitgeist pieces!
Really appreciate to be not the only one who love these!
Here’s my wife’s blue hairline face model. It show some love (wear), but isn’t polished at all!
Though, accept the original crystal, I polished!
