Dear all

here is a rather nice Connie that I would appreciate your comments on

I've poured over the fonts a hundred times and compared it with others to decide if they are legit
-and even though the upper text is without-serif -came to the conclusion that they could be okay
(I've been corrected before about serif-less fonts on earlier Connies -ie that they can be legit)
The squiffy M in AUTOMATIC is just crystal distortion

However, there are a couple of things that do bother me:
star slightly askew
the 'ticks' for the minute track are shorter from 1 -5
the SWISS MADE may be a little too high? -should it should sit a little lower against the bottom main edge of the 6 marker?

all thoughts/comments very much welcomed

 

Yep, with the exception of the wonky star the dial tekst looks ok to me. Minute ticks perhaps have been redone though.

 

Do you have more pictures? From that one the hour hand looks a bit flat

No "officially certified" again?

 

Is that a must on one of these?
I thought I saw a 'good one' on the OF without that?

To my knowledge, all of the railroad dials are 14381 or 14393 which means the absence of "officially certified" is fine. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen a railroad dial with the "officially certified" script. Hoipolloi has been at this much longer than me though.

Nice Rail track though - you are moving ever so closer to the Piepan sect.

 

These are much rarer than Piepan
Lousy pic with no detail but I would suspect
refinish if the following are true:
-no serifs(mine has serifs, also has serifs on SWISS MADE)
-the vertical grain on the center section of the dial doesn't look
as pronounced as it should
- those minute hashes are short
blow this one up and you can see the serifs and grain

But yours has a gold dial - yes?
The one for sale is a none gold dial version
Would the all have vertical graining?
I agree the minute markers bother me though

 

I think they should all have the vertical graining
and the serifs. i guess there could have been two dial
mnfg. but that doesn't make too much sense with
a special order, limited prod. version

 

I think if you look a the oblique views -one above -here's the other one -you can see the graining
just not as pronounced as on yours

 

So wmdid you get if???
