I was under the impression that the Speedmaster Professional Ref.145.022.69ST was a so-called Pre Moon".

The majority of the 145.022.69ST's I've seen do not have an inscription on the caseback in addition to the Hippocampus & Speedmaster.

I have noticed that some 145.022.69ST's referred to as "Straight Back" or "Straight Written" with the The First Watch Worn On The Moon inscription on the caseback are also being referred to as Pre-Moon models by various dealers.

Are these "Straight Back" models in fact Pre-Moons?

So in this case, -71 with NONasa is also pre moon?

Nope, it came after the 145.022-69 Straight Writing. So while it may be a no-moon, it's not a pre-moon.

My understanding is that every Speedy introduced before the first "first watch on the moon" writing appeared is considered pre moon. So the last one is the 145.022-69.

so "straight writing" 145.022-69, is the last pre-moon reference?

Well if it says "moon" on the caseback, it can't be pre-moon now can it?

(For non-English speakers, "pre-" means "previous to" or "before")

The 145.022-69 with the earlier hippocampus back that just says "Speedmaster" is the last pre-moon. The same reference with the Straight Writing back is the first Moon model.

The caseback with the hippocampus could be called 'pre moon', as it is similar to the caseback on the pre-moon references 105.012 and 145.012, but to call a Speedmaster produced after the moon landing in July 1969 'pre moon' makes no sense IMHO

There's been some discussion on this in the past, and while it's true that academically, any watch produced after the moon landing would be considered post-moon, the pre-moon designation is meant more for the model, considering that Speedmasters with hippocampus casebacks are more valuable to collectors - regardless of whether they were produced in June 1969 or August 1969.

So what about hypocampus caseback that we're produced before the moon landing but sold after?

The discussion could go on forever. Let's leave it at; plain hypocampus 145.022-69 is last 'pre-moon' (even if produced or sold after moon landing) and the straight-writing 145.022-69 is the first 'moonwatch'.

It simply means "pre-moon caseback", not "pre-moon landing".
