I am curious to see how high is it going to go.

Looks good at first glance, would be one of the last with pre-Moon caseback and drop counter-weight seconds chrono hand

Looks good to me as well. It will fetch a high price given the overall condition and pkg.

The May 1970 production date seems a bit late into the 861's to have a teardrop chronograph hand. I think the chronograph hand is really suspect but I guess anything is possible.

Looks original, good bezel. I would expect a lot of interest in that one.

Looks quite nice overall, but I don't think that chrono hand is original.

Indeed it looks slightly " more white " than the other hands...
That seconds chrono hand would be correct for a 145.022-68

Not necessarily. While the teardrop chrono hand may be original to -68's, I believe you're more likely to see the flat bottomed chrono on that ref. The transition appears to be more towards the end of the 145.012 - 67/68.

Agreed. The flat end chrono hand was transitioned in during the 145.012's (-67 to -68) and can be seen on the 'transitional' Speedy's. This appears to be complete by when the applied logo 145.022-69's came about. Everything on this watch is consistent with the 145.022-69 except the chrono hand, which is earlier. Looks nice though.

Edit. : this post is wrong. That is I was wrong as it is a steel brake, and so all assumptions on that are wrong.

Pretty sure this is a heavily worked on watch.

I believe this watch has been stripped right down and rebuilt not using all the original components, it has been carefully reassembled to mimic an original watch.

When I see one thing out of place - the drop end chrono, then I go hunting for more evidence.

I wont say it yet what it is just yet that gives it away - but this is a flashing red light no go.

    Anyone see the clue?

    Yes.
Dont see those on a -69.
So the number bridge is not original to at least the Delrin brake, so one has to assume other parts too...

Edit again. I was wrong it's A steel brake. Disregard this post

Ah damn, just noticed the brake. Good catch. When were these implemented?

And for future reference, are these occasionally replaced or are there other 'tell tale signs' of later movements apart from this?

Is that definitely a delrin brake? Looks like metal to me. The delrin ones are usually slightly translucent aren't they?

Bit of basic read and learn self-education with this contribution chaps: Am I right to think that Speedmaster 101 would place this between $3300 and $5500. (Running to Good)?
That is I presume... if the watch was 'correct' or only had minor irregularities???

So...If it's incorrect, looks like it's unoriginal (and the bidding is already way above a low offer price) am I right to conclude that forms the basis for a 'no go' 'leave it alone' decision???

You have to use the line that includes the DO90 bezel, so the running to good range is $4400 - 6000.

I got this from the seller.
What do you think about the case?
He says it was never polished but it doesn’t look like that to me. FullSizeRender.jpg
