I bought this in December. The case is dinged and the crystal is scratched. I fitted an old 1171 I had lying around and I have worn it quite happily. The crystal is very marked, and the bezel looks like a replacement, too new to go with the rest of the watch.I may be able to improve this a little with my limited abilities. (there isn't anyone else within several hundred miles here I would trust).

So I stripped it down to check it over.
The movement shows no signs of work, but is very clean. The dial and hand set show some nice patina, but not really chocolate brown, just faded,

I have to actually go and do some work now, so I will think on this today.

    Nice logo, bad scratches:

    Laid out for my meditation:

And everything taken using my mobile phone.

    More later.

I stripped out the case, including the pushers, down to the washers and springs. All I do is remove the gunk and ensure they move smoothly, with the tiniest amount of oil on the toothed interface. Then I clean the case by hand.

This watch has the incorrect polish on the sides, and I don't know how to do that - the brushed finish. One day I will learn. Cleaning is enough for me at the moment. See what was clogging the pushers of the case: (I keep the pushers separate in those containers - no point in mixing them up).

Here is the cleaned case refitted with better (old) crystal. Nothing done to movement and dial. I cant do that.

Ready now for the bezel. Some people like to put it on before the crystal is installed, but then you have to fit the movement to line it up. So I do it after the crystal and movement. Note the "new" crystal makes a big difference.

Only problem now the bracelet is so grubby and scratched it needs a clean. So a Zulu to check it still works over the next few days.I am not a fan of canvas straps except as a temporary measure. Not sure why, and luckily I change my mind on so many things I am sure my prejudice wont last.

Well I dont know if I did any good to the watch, but I feel so much better.

Looks great! So much better with a period bezel. A decent crystal always makes a huge difference, unfortunately I can't keep a new crystal scratch free for more than about a week. The case sides look unpolished to me, the original light brushing has probably just worn away over time - maybe you can just see it with a loupe. Nice work.

Is that the original crown on that straight lug 321 (sorry, I'm a 105.003 man so not sure if that's a 2915/2998 etc...?). Just that it looks like a wider Omega emblem rather than the more 'pinched' variety.

Does anybody know if the replacement 105.003 crown on Ofrei - part no. 8100/1095 is the wider emblem or the pinched one - no pics on his website unfortunately?

The crown offered by Ofrei does not have the older style Ω. I believe that is what you are calling "pinched".
