    Hi again.

I'm interested in this '69, but something is bugging me.

    1. It almost looks too clean, or maybe that's correct for $6600
    2. It's serial number is 328xxxx, which I believe is '74. Is it possible that a '69 would still have a movement serial so high?

Your expertise / thoughts would be appreciated, thank you.

    Here are some photos.

    Cheers.

    Thanks again.

I can tell you mine is just about 1 million lower than this one, has a dial in better original shape, and I paid a lot less than half of that asking price.

    yes, serial looks off
DNN bezel, replacement crown/pushers, one picture with bracelet the others with strap, and not a particularly attractive dial/hands. I'd say the price is a little ambitious. For a '69 premoon, i'd want a correct serial, 1039 bracelet, and DoN bezel, otherwise, its just another speedy.

The asking price is right at the very top end of the market for that watch. If I paid that price, I'd want an absolutely mint example .... and this isn't that. It's nice. It has no major problems. But it's not the museum example that the price would suggest.

The serial # is fine for a 145.022-69 made between 1971 and 1974 but that would be expected to have a caseback with straight writing.

So, looks like you've got a washed out dial, probably service hands and the wrong caseback .... and the asking is absolute top money.

    Pass.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to write and give your thoughts.

That one is definitely deleted from my wish list then.

    Cheers all.

    Thanks.
'Unfortunately' I'm in Europe, so things are a bit more expensive. Buying one from the US means paying about $2000 in import tax :(
So my search is currently limited to EU. While the UK is still in it :)

P.S. if you want a Speedmaster hang around for a bit and buy it here. On OF you'll find that perfect combination- a great watch, at a great price from a great seller!

Unless you are a complete expert and prepared to take some risks with your hard earned - I wouldn't buy from EBay.

Wouldn't a DNN (Dot Near 90) bezel be one of the correct options for a 69ST, along with the Dot Over 90?

Regardless, the bezel on this watch has the dot beneath the 70 instead of next to it... does that indicate a later service bezel from the 1990s onward?

Thanks, that 66 is amazing. Shame it's in Singapore. Cheers for the tips.

Yes, but the one in question here is a modern service replacement, as evidenced by the dot under 70.
