Hello - my first post and thought this looked like a good thread to post my question. The 145.022-69 Apollo XI caseback - rare but should it be $14,000/CHF13,800/£10,000 rare? I honestly don't know as I'm quite new to the Speedmaster world. Thanks a lot!

What are you asking? Is that the price for the watch or the case back? If the watch pix are needed to make any useful response.

Really don't know exactly what you're asking here, but I also can't see how any 145.022-69 ST Speedmaster could ever be valued at $14,000.

The last straight-writing Apollo XI that sold here went for $7k or so I think last fall.

Yeah, pretty much asking what's the going price for the straight writing Apollo XI watch. This one is at near $14,000 USD. Here are a couple of pics:

That's not an ordinary watch, it has a rare brown dial, rare blue bezel and rare bracelet.
    Is it worth $14k?
    Maybe

What's the serial number on that? These should have the DNN bezel (not DON) and the A's on the caseback should have flat tops.

I got a bad feeling about this caseback based on the Speedmaster101 photos....

I'm gonna try to get @Spacefruit and @speedy4ever to take a look at that one to be sure, but I think the caseback might not be genuine

Looking at the Moonwatch Only book, it shows that the Apollo VI version has the DON whereas the previous versions were DNN.

    Interesting...!

The example they show also has a chocolate dial and was sent to the Japanese market in 1971.

Yes, the bezel is a lovely dark blue but as you say, the lume is suspect. Appears to be flaking on the hour markers and looks non-existent on the hands. Could it be a trick of the light? I might email the seller.

This one also has an accent over the è in tachymètre, is that significant? The example in the book does not. Thanks.

DON bezels should have the accent over the E. I'll have to double-check MWO later but are you sure it's a DON on a straight-writing, with no accent?

Sorry, I'm completely wrong - there IS an accent over the DON version of the Straight Writing watch.

I'm a little concered about the lumes, the corrosion to the case and the grunge around the pusher.... and what about the partial wear to the text on the caseback? Problem?

speedy4ever's statement about the pointed A's is here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/spe...e-numbered-version-or-fake.31245/#post-352233.

Would be interesting what the serial number is.
