First time posting. What a wonderful forum you all have here! I had a question about a transitional 145.022-68 Speedmaster. Is it possible for this watch to have originally been fitted with a DN90 bezel? I know there are some on this forum that have seen 145.022-69s with seemingly original DN90 bezels but some of those 69s also have DO90s, which seems to preclude the possibility of a DN90 bezel on the 68s. I raise the question because I saw a piece with just this configuration. I have attached a picture downloaded from the source, which is here: http://www.carsandwatches.com/omega-speedmaster-transitional-from-1968-mint/
Very nice dial and hands but the bezel is a replacement. It does need to be a DoN. For the right price this is still a potential buy though.
i think it is mentioned in THE book too, that it was available at that time, but i have to look again
But the bezel is definitely incorrect? There is no chance a transitional 68 could have had a dot next to 90 bezel?
It is my experience that there are plenty of people who accept DN90 on 1968 watch as being possibly original equipment. Indeed I have seen correspondence from the Museum that says that both bezels were fitted. (However I do take anything from the museum with a pinch of salt.....just look at the speedmasters and what they have on them) So I accept either. But I value the watches with a DO90 10-20% more.
Thanks for the response Spacefruit! By the way, many compliments on speedmaster101 -- it is fantastic resource!
