I have a 68 transitional that I’m in love with but sadly don’t have the 1039 bracelet. I don’t think I’ll try to source one mostly because they cost so much.

What do members think about buying a modern 1171 for this reference? Is there a big difference between it and a vintage model?

I’m keen to get this watch on a bracelet but unsure exactly how.

I bought a 1171/633 for my transitional and used it until I found a 1116/575. Still have the 1171 and used it for a while on a Seamaster chrono until I sold it.

I have both the original 1039 & a modern 1171 for mine, no issues. Wear what you enjoy the most, mine is on the 1171 currently.

1171 is fine. Use it until you find a 1039. You will like it

I really like this old 1171/633 bracelet. My Dad had it fitted as a service bracelet to his 1960's Speedmaster in the early 1970's. I know it's not correct for a 105.012-65, (and I wish I knew what happened to the beautiful original flat link bracelet that my Mother had in her kitchen draw for years) :(but there is something very attractive about the lovely eliptical profile of the 1171/633 links.::love::

IMHO, the vintage 1171/633 combo is really great and offers the best balance for the watch. The 1039/516 combo is to light and the watch tends to turn around your wrist especially if your wrists are small. The 1171 is heavier which balances the weight of the watch better and gives a secure feeling. The vintage 1171 is still affordable with some patience. My daily beater is a 1969 SW speedy with a 1171/633 bracelet and it really gives the impression they were meant for each other.

This photo sealed the deal for me. Thank you! I'll call the AD this morning :)

I also have a Watchco SM300 which I never wear and wonder if the 1171/633 combo will breathe new life into it.

Does anyone know if the 1171/633 will fit my SM300??

DFD0B409-D691-4BAD-907B-55619ED79E6D.jpeg My watch is a little bit newer than yours, a 145022-71. I bought it with a like new 1171/1. Positive: bracelet looks good and feels very comfortable on the wrist. You haven’ got to care to much about the bracelet as well. Negative: in my eyes it looks a little bit to new, it lacks a sort of vintage appeal. And there are minor differences between 1171 and 1171/1 aswell. So if I could find a 1171 from the seventies, I would go for that.

Be aware the modern 1171 bracelet isn’t of the same quality as the vintage 1171.

A vintage 1171 has screwed links rather than pins and the number 11 in a circle as opposed to 32.

There is a marking inside of the clasp. My 1506 in the below example: dated ´65. (i believe 1st quarter)

The older 1171 has screws, the 1171/1 pins. For more information, you can read this thread:

    https://omegaforums.net/threads/bracelet-question-1171-1171-1-1171-633.39833/

There is a difference in the clasp as well.

You will find the relief with the early ones from around 1970. A few years later you will find the trapezoid Logo. From the end of seventies I guess the square logo. Correct me, if I‘m wrong (photo taken from a german forum) D66C1ED4-D9D9-476C-9A29-055A505CD444.jpeg

Those date stamps aren’t present on 1171’s.

    Interesting.
    No 1171 doesn’t have datestamps. 1039 has - I’m lucky to have one dated 1967 - matching the 145.012

    Thx for info

Ultimately though, the 1171 will still be incorrect for your watch. Personally if I was going to buy a bracelet I'd rather pay extra for a 1039, knowing it was correct, or stick with a nice leather strap.
