Hi All,

I have recently purchased a beautiful 68 transitional but upon getting it home I have noticed that the hour hand appears to be incorrect. Now I'm no expert and I know that being a transitional model not all these watches are made identical ie; they can have different crowns fitted but surely the hands should all be the C2 hands.

Could some of the experts shed some light on this for me. to my untrained eye the lume on the minute and hour hands appear to be the same colour.

Hour hand is incorrect. Lume part should be thicker and longer.

Other than that, beautiful watch.

You're correct. The hand is wrong. Looks like it's from a mk series Speedmaster. The whole handset probably is.

Agree. The minute hand looks a little bit short.

Thank you for clarifying guys. I guess the hunt is on for a set of correct hands to be fitted now.

I am leaning towards a Speedmaster Mk IV hour hand but the minute hand looks correct, but I am confused as to why the lume would be the same colour on the OP's hands. The lume channel looks slightly wider on the Mk IV hour hand - maybe?. 👎 Possibly a production "fault"? I doubt it though. The hour plot lume doesn't look as if it has been re-worked to me.

Incorrect. All should have Flat foot crowns.

The seconds counter subdial hand is a service replacement as well.
Check out the tip comparing to the other two.

If the minute hand does not have a curved tip, it is incorrect as well.
