I have a few concerns about a watch I won off Christie's auction. I have attached the link to auction. plus pictures after I received the watch with back off.
    https://onlineonly.christies.com/s/...-145-012-39/42112?cid=IM_EML_PC_Bid_Won_27352

I was thinking this watch was a 68 with the description Christie's supplied on auction. " According to the archives of Omega Manufactured on April 3, 1968". As you can see only three pictures in this auction.

    Is this a 67 or 68 ? Serial number falls in 1967 25007xxx___ thank you speedmaster101
    Back has 67 not 68.
If y'all have any other thoughts / concerns about the watch I would be happy to know...

    Thank you

Did you realised that the lume was wash off before buying the watch at that price?

A watch marked 67 is often released (as shown in an extract) in 1968.

145.012-68 are very rare in my experience. Real hens teeth.

Www.speedmaster101.com quotes observed serials in references, not in production years.

Their description was accurate, although a bit thin IMO...If you wanted a 145.012-68 you should have asked to see the extract or caseback pic.

For future reference, probably a wise move to learn on here first versus jumping headfirst into the deep end.

Yes___ but the 25% fee on top of hammer is the killer!
    What about my question?

I agree with you but its just as easy to say "SP" 67 engraved inside case back. When you are a high-end seller like Christie's

I agree...and the description was thin. There is not a seller on here that would have listed that watch as such.

    The devil is the details.

Keep the watch and enjoy...and be on the lookout for a better example...they pop up often.

In my experience the extract will only give you the reference and the date of manufacture, you need to see inside the case back for the year reference, for instance my Ed White is 65 on the case back but manufactured in June 67, this is not uncommon.
As for high end sellers, there have been enough threads already on the forum about respected auction houses being very lax (or uninformed) when it comes to auction descriptions of watches. This description is far from the worst I have seen!

It was just in an auction...so that should give you a rough estimate of market price. If you want to sell it now you would almost certainly have to take a loss. It looks very nice except for the lack of lume, if you just bought it why not enjoy it for a while

Add 3-4k to the 12K$ you payed and you almost get a 145.012 like this. Almost. Auctions have a tendency to get you carried away, so be aware of your maximum and..do a proper assessment before, saves you money and nerves. I had my learnings to..
